Childrens Home

Who are the children we've been blessed to spend the past year with?

Christine Tsindori is an excellent helper in the kitchen at the children’s centre.  She is 13 years old and in Class 6.  Her favorite subject is English, and she hopes to be a Dr. one day.  Her favorite memory verse is Proverbs 3:5,6.  She, along with her best friend Teresa, has her ears pierced and likes to wear earrings.  Her older brother Hillary lives at the children’s centre as well. Christine has a strong spirit, although some things in life can be hard she never stops trying to make things better for other people. You might think she’s fearless, until you see how quickly she runs from a 12 pound dog named Maggie.

Hillary Ndoli is our oldest boy, and a great leader for the other children.  He is 15 years old and in Class 8, the last year of primary school.  He is currently working very hard to be able to get good marks on his K.C.P.E.s at the end of this year, you can see this through his determination and constant practice to always grow and learn more in everything that he does.  Hillary’s favorite subject is science, but he often works math problems in his spare time in hopes of getting better at them.  His favorite color is maroon, and his favorite Bible verse is Romans 10:17.  Hillary’s close friends are Roy and Gabriel.  They describe him as a good story teller, hard worker, and intelligent.  Hillary aspires to be a pilot for the military one day.

Sharon Jelagat is described by her friends as quiet, smart, faithful, and always smiling.  Her best friends at the centre are Teresa and Brenda.  Her little brother Victor also lives at the centre.  She is 11 years old and in Class 6.  Her favorite subject is science, and she hopes to be an accountant when she grows up.  Her favorite color is blue and she enjoys reading, singing, and teaching Auntie Kellie Kiswahili. She has a humble spirit and although she succeeds in learning many things, she never tries to show off or make anyone feel less intelligent or important.

Victor Kirwa is Sharon’s 7 year old brother.  He is in Class 1 and shares his bright smile with everyone each day.  He enjoys playing with others, especially Gideon.  The new seesaw is his favorite part of our playground.  Victor likes the color yellow, and his favorite food is ugali.  (Lucky for him he gets it several times a week!)  Victor dreams of being a pilot of passenger airplanes. He has a great ability to make sounds with his voice and shares an exciting imagination with his friends.

Bernard Rono is a fun-loving 10 year old in Class 3. He loves giving big hugs and easily makes people feel right at home.  His favorite color is blue, and his favorite subject in school is English.  He likes to read and ride the new bike at the children’s centre.  His older brother Roy also lives with us.  Dennis is his best buddy.  One day he hopes to be a driver of large trucks called lorrys.  Look out everybody!

Roy Kiplagat is one of our star footballers (soccer players).  His best friend is Hillary, and his favorite animal is a dog.  Roy is 13 years old and in Class 6.  He is extraordinarily polite, which will comfort his patients one day if he becomes a doctor.  But watch out because he always has a few jokes up his sleeve.  His favorite food is chapatti, and his favorite memory verse is Hebrews 13:6.

Winnie Kiptoo is our only girl who prefers to wear trousers over wearing skirts.  Her best friends are Sharon and her little sister, Brenda.  They describe her as quiet, happy, and loving.  Winnie is 11 years old and in Class 5.  Her favorite animal is a simba (lion), and her favorite color is red.  She enjoys dancing and reading.

Brenda Kiptoo is Winnie Kiptoo’s 8 year old cousin. She is also the youngest girl living at the Grace of God Children’s Centre.  She is in Class 3 and has been a great helper to Christina at school.  Her favorite subject is math, which will be helpful to her later when she tries to get a job as a banker.  She has been quite gracious in sharing her clothes and shoes with her new friend Abigail.  Her favorite memory verse is Luke 15:10, and her favorite color is purple.

Eunice Aroth is one of our female athletes.  She enjoys playing football (soccer), and hopes to be a professional runner one day. Eunice is a fabulous singer and friend. She likes acting in dramas, braiding hair, and going new places such as West Pokot with our ministry team.  Eunice is 13 years old and in Class 6.  She is a wonderful helper to Auntie Sarah at the centre.  She loves to laugh and scare people.  Winnie Awino is her best friend, and boy do they make a fun pair!  Eunice has a younger brother, Nickson, who also lives with us.

Nickson Ejikon is Eunice’s 11 year old brother.  He is in Class 3 and enjoys math the most out of all of his subjects.  He is the most photogenic boy you’ve ever seen!  He says he’d like to be a matatu driver, but we’re trying to convince him he should be a model.  Nickson’s favorite color is red, and his favorite thing to play on at the children’s centre is the tire swing.  He says his favorite animal is a pig.  His best buddy is Vincent, who describes him as happy and full of jokes.

Teresa Jepkorir is the oldest girl at the centre.  She is 14 and in Class 6.  She often leads the singing during fellowship time in the evenings.  She enjoys reading and is always the first to get up and dance.  Her best friend is Christine, and they both hope to become doctors when they complete their education.  Teresa’s favorite animal is a cat, and her favorite color is purple.  She enjoys wearing earrings when she has the opportunity to dress up.

Ian Kipyego is 12 years old and in Class 6.  He enjoys his science class most, and his best friends at school are Ian Kipkemboi and William Kimutai.  Ian’s favorite chore is going to get water (it’s been pretty dry here lately!).  He likes the color maroon, and his favorite memory verse is Luke 10:2.  He is always looking for a way to be helpful to others.  He often asks if he can wash up other people’s dishes after dinner. He’s a sneaky one who loves taking pictures with his friend Victor’s new pair of sunglasses.

Eliud Kattam is 13 years old and in Class 6.  He recently cut his leg and had to go to the local infirmary.  Eliud was very brave, and took the experience without any complaining!  He has a quiet and gentle spirit about him.  He enjoys playing football (soccer) and reading.  Eliud’s best friend is Ian, and one day he hopes to fly him around in a big airplane.

Vincent Kepkorir is an avid dancer.  Sometimes he can’t help but break into dance when he’s in choir practice. He is 14 years old and in Class 4.  He is often seen riding the bike at the children’s home and also enjoys playing football (soccer).  Although he’s shorter than many of his age mates he is a fast runner!  Vincent’s best friend is Eliud, and he has two younger brothers, Dennis and Gideon, who live with us as well.

Dennis Kipkurui’s favorite food is beef with rice.  At school, in Class 2, he enjoys his Christian Religious Education class the most.  Like his older brother Vincent, Dennis enjoys dancing and singing.  He likes a good game of football (soccer) or volleyball as well.  Dennis says his best friend is his little brother Gideon. He has a sensitive heart and a fantastic laugh!

Gideon Kiplagat is our youngest child.  He is 6 years old and in Top Class (Kindergarten).  He was #1 in his class by 49 points on the last set of exams!  His favorite Bible verse is 2 Cor. 5:17, and he enjoys Christian Religious Education most at school.  Gideon is often seen laughing and playing on the seesaw with his good friend Bernard.  His favorite color is red, and his favorite animal is a cat.  Gideon hopes to have a car when he grows up but for now he stays busy pretending to prepare his shamba and making sound effects with Victor.

Winnie Awino is loads of fun.  Although she is shy, she always has a smile on her face, and tries hard to communicate with the Americans in English.  Winnie enjoys cleaning the floors at the children’s centre, and does it frequently, without being asked.  Her favorite color is pink, which she wears often, along with her pretty pink necklace.  Her new friend is Christina, and they both enjoy gardening and jump roping together.
